Bike Wheel Trellis – Hard Luffa

Here’s the pictures of Michelle’s second Bike Wheel Trellis.  The Luffa’s are loving it.  There was concern that the rims would get too hot in the sun and burn the plant, but they really don’t get hot at all.  Hooray for creativity!

I stopped my months long study of luffa and trellis systems when I saw the bike wheel idea. I’m a bike enthusiast and had a good supply of old wheels. It will be both recycling (pun intended), an art form, and a solid trellis system. Will start in early 2013

I came up with this element in a pergola design for a client in the summer of 2006, installed in Iowa. Did somebody see mine, or do great minds just think alike?

I guess great minds think alike. We have never seen yours. Do you have a picture?

This bike wheel trellis is a very ingenious idea. It’s very easy to make. You just need to attach the bike wheels to a wooden post. The more imperfect they each look the better.{found on kvpermaculture}. [...]
