Hi Royce,

We actually know Peter, the stove designer featured in the New Yorker article, from meeting him out at the Possibility Alliance in La Plata. He's definitely dedicated all his efforts towards designing high efficiency stoves using local materials. The rocket stoves you can buy on his website at www.rocketstove.org are really great and easy to use. There are tons of factors that come into play when designing a good oven or cook stove.

This place also has lots of good plans: http://solarcooking.org/plans/

I'm not linking the New Yorker article because there's sometimes a paywall, though you may be able to get through. I was amazed how tough it is to design a great oven.
