March 18th, 2010, will be the beginning of a Healing Arts Walk led by Shira Granote (a licensed nurse, massage therapist, and worker with disabled youth) and Joshua Duncan (trained in meditation and alternative healing). They are starting at the Possibility Alliance in La Plata, MO on Thursday (Mar. 18th) at 9:00 a.m. They would love for people to walk with them for as long as they feel inspired to. Shira and Joshua are committed to walking to Columbia, then Kansas City, then possibly around the rest of the nation.
Here’s an excerpt from their site.
On March 18th, 2010 I will be beginning a walk with the intention to help create more health and wellbeing in our nation. With over 40 million Americans lacking access to health care and with 1 in 6 facing depression it is time to take action.
Healing is a human right that all people deserve regardless of income, race, or beliefs. I can no longer wait for politicians, hospitals, corporations or other institutions to bring health to this county. I am inviting you all to join me on this journey and to set an example for the country. Today we wake up, today we heal those in need.

There will be a group of people walking with them for the first few miles, and maybe more, meeting a little before 9 at the Possibility Alliance. If you’re in Kirksville and interested in going to send them off, leave a message in the comments or send us an email at give [at] kvpermaculture [dot] org so we can organize a bike/car ride down to the Possibility Alliance.
